Football
Boys in Grades 3 through 8 can participate in football through the St. Bernard Chargers Football Program, sponsored by St. Bernard Athletic Association.
At the developmental level, 3rd and 4th graders play with a strong focus on learning the basic fundamental skills of football.
The JV level, which generally consists of 5th and 6th graders, is more competitive than developmental; however, the JV level still has a strong focus on learning skills. The JV level can qualify for playoffs.
Lastly, 7th and 8th grade boys participate at the Varsity level, which is competitive. The Varsity level can also qualify for playoffs.
This past season, the Varsity team advanced to the Diocesan Championship. If your son is interested in playing football next season, please contact Joe Ranft at [email protected] or 412-913-4688. Joe is a St. Gabriel parent and the head coach of the Varsity team. Football is a fall sport. The season begins with summer conditioning, and regular practices begin in August. Games are played on weekends starting in September. The season generally runs through the middle to end of October.
