Boy Scouts
Cub Scouts covers boys from 1st through 5th grades, and starting in 2017, Kindergarten boys can join as "Lion" cubs. The pack is not limited to St. Gabriel School students, and has boys from neighboring communities. The cubmaster is Tim Fox.
Boy Scouts are a National organization with no troop servicing St. Gabriel School exclusively. They focus on outdoor activities, camping, character development, physical development, and citizenship training as well as faith development. There are several troops in the area and boys can visit each to see if they fit with the program offered by that troop.
Local information on both Boy and Cub Scouts can be found at https://beascout.scouting.org.
Girl Scouts
At St. Gabriel School, Girl Scout troops coincide with each grade, but not all grades have a troop. The troops are also not limited to St. Gabriel School students. Each troop is independent of each other, and has their own meeting days and times, and the amount of meetings and activities varies by troop. If a parent is interested in starting a new troop, which typically happens when girls are in Kindergarten, the Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania Council should be contacted, and the troop leader will be required to take training classes and have clearances for working with children.
